Speedboat Rides on the Seine
Tuesday, July 14, 2009 So I was hanging out on the Ile St Louis with Vee and Cassie and zee doggies today and every ten minutes a high-speed military boat would zoom by on the Seine with a group of (mostly) terrified looking passengers on board. This was part of the French military demonstrations as part of the Bastille Day celebrations. This particular pass wasn't as exciting as some (no donut-loops), but the two military men onboard were wearing black balaclavas...if you had no idea what was going on it might look like terrorists had kidnapped some clueless tourists to take on a scenic tour of Paris.
FYI: Normally only police or fire department boats are allowed to drive speedboats on the Seine, so it was pretty cool to see this. The other large white boat passing is a regular tourist cruise ship.
