A French Couturier’s Lessons on Seduction

I think for most Anglophones the word “seduction” conjures images of a sexual nature, such as a woman giving a come-hither look to the gentleman across a crowded bar, or a man wining and dining a date before putting on the moves.

But seduction to the French is not just about attracting the opposite sex, but being attractive in general. It’s less about a specific goal and more about a way of living. I’ve been in France long enough to know that flirting more about the fun than actually hooking up, and that you’ll find it everywhere from the La Poste to the supermarché. When you realize that you’re more likely to get your way in this country with a subtle combination of sincere flattery and a charming, self-confident smile, you’ll understand why seduction is so…well, seductive!

For French couturier Ana Quasoar, the art of being a seductive woman in today’s society is more about cultivating the right attitude than copying the models in fashion magazines. It’s about finding strength in our femininity and self confidence, about honoring our unique qualities and letting our inner beauty shine through.

The windows of her showroom just off the Galerie Vivienne (north of the Palais Royal Gardens, at 7 rue de la Banque, 2nd) feature her latest creations: silky formal gowns, lacey wedding dresses, and elegant, perfectly-cut separates with signature beading and whimsical touches that look just a classy paired with stylish jeans as they do with a fancy hat and heels.

In the many years that Ana has dressed women from all over the world, she prides herself on making sure that it’s her clients – and not what they are wearing – that steal the spotlight. More than just the savoir-faire required of all designers to create a flattering haute couture gown, Ana also knows how to bring out the best in her clients by teaching them the secrets of creating an aura of relaxed elegance and self-assurance.

Up until now, Ana’s consulting was exclusively available to her couture clients, but to make her expertise more accessible to everyone, she now conducts small group seminars titled “Lessons in Seduction”. While sipping on Champagne in Ana’s boudoir showroom, women rediscover their own femininity and learn how to highlight their assets. Simple and concrete, the examples and exercises that she proposes are incredibly effective as she challenges your ingrained perceptions of yourself.

Three aspects are developed during these sessions: attitude, wardrobe and self-confidence. How do you make the most of your wardrobe? How do you mix and match your clothes? How do you develop that all-important sense of repartee the French hold so dear? How can you be persuasive without seeming like you’re trying? How do you change what you think of as flaws into qualities?

Whether you are shy or outgoing, women of any age can learn about the Parisian mysteries of femininity in Ana’s seminar. Then, it will be up to you to make the most of your own newly discovered assets – what better way to make the most of being a woman in Paris!

Ana Quasoar’s seminars are for private groups of 10-15 women. The next seminar in English is on Wednesday May 25 from 6:30-9:30pm for €95/person. This seminar is open to the women of the Paris Urban Adventurers Meetup group and Secrets of Paris readers (contact Heather). If you would like to set up your own private group seminar with Ana or see her latest collection, contact her at:
