Time for the 80th annual Foire Nationale aux Antiquités, à la Brocante et aux Jambons, the largest antique and flea (and ham?) market in France, on the Ile de Chatou (RER Reuil-Malmaison, then a free shuttle). Daily 10am-7pm, entry €5 (free for kids up to 15 years).
March 19-22
"Ethical, chic and organic" is this year's theme for the 23rd annual Salon Vivre Autrement (Parc Floral, Bois de Vincennes). Over 400 stands with organic foods, wines, beauty products, home care and decor, baby stuff, clothing, "resposible" vacations, and plenty of practical ateliers on recycling, using a compass in the wild, gardening, cooking, etc. Go on their website to print off a free invitation, or pay €7 at the door. Free shuttles to the salon from the M° Château de Vincennes (or a 10 minute walk around the château). Open 10:30am-7pm, Friday until 9pm.
March 20
It's the Jour du Macaron! And I'm not just going to eat them for my own personal, naughty enjoyment; I'm also eating them for a good cause. All of the pastry shops celebrating the day will have special jars out for the Fédération des Maladies Orphelines so you can donate your loose change. Jean-Paul Hévin will be unveiling his newest creations, Grott'in, a dark and milk chocolate macaron with griotte cherry pulp, and Vanill'in, with white chocolate and vanilla.
