Looking for a typically French bistro, not too many tourists, not too many choices (you're fine with a selection of three starters, main dishes and desserts, right?) and an excellent wine list, then this is your place. So many people say that's it's not as good as it used to be. Well, as the saying goes, "The older we get, the better we were..."

I quite enjoyed my lunch there, and very much enjoyed the house red. It was supposedly Mitterrand's favorite place to eat, and I did see a few black chauffered cars outside and very official looking politicians inside, despite the somewhat scruffy decor and low prices. It is, after all, in that no-man's land between Bastille and Nation.
