A tranquil hotel near the Left Bank's St-Sulpice Church, this former 18th-century convent welcomes you with a cobblestone ante-courtyard and vaulted stone entrance. The lobby's salons have vestiges of the original building, with a breakfast room overlooking the aprivate garden. Rooms are either a mix of floral and striped fabrics with period furnishings, or contemporary minimalist with wood paneling and modern art. Be sure to ask for the style you prefer! And remember: Left Bank can be cozy and luxurious, but not necessarily spacious, so book in the largest room you can afford. All have flat-screen TVs, and upper-floor accommodations have oak beams and sitting alcoves. Duplexes (split-level suites) have  private terraces.

42 rooms, 4 suites, Wi-Fi. Doubles from €211.

I love this hotel and this is one of my favorite places to stay in in Paris. The refinement of the decoration and furnitures is outstanding. I like particularly the fireplace in one of the salon in winter and the inner garden in summer to have an early breakfast in an ideal environment. Hotel has a fan page on Facebook to give recent news about the hotel and Paris: http://www.facebook.com/hotelabbaye
