Completely redecorated in early 2009, the contemporary Grand Hotel Français has 40 rooms with soothing colors, minimalist design, dark wood furnishings, fabric-covered walls, French linens, and tiled bathrooms with Italian shower heads. The metro line 9 is right by the front door, and the Nation metro/RER hub (lines 1, 2, 6, 9, and RER A) is three blocks away. Père Lachaise cemetery and the Bois de Vincennes aren’t far, but this is not the most exciting nor quaint neighborhood. You can’t really walk to any major sites, although the Bastille, Marais and central Paris are only about 15 minutes using public transport or taxi.

Doubles €135-€175.

40 rooms. Soundproofed windows, minibar with free softdrinks, flatscreen TV (CNN in English), free WiFi access.

This is a fantastic boutique style hotel. The staff cannot do enough for you. We could not fault this in any way. Don't be put off by it not being in the centre of the city - this is more than compensated for by the fantastic Metro service and the savings on the hotel rates! We got to Chatelet in 15 minutes from Rue di Boulets and to the airport thro Gard De Nord in just under an hour.
