Calendar of Paris Events

June 2-3
This weekend is the Portes Ouvertes at Les Frigos! Check out the artist studios in one of the most famous former squats in Paris. In the 13th (near the Bibliothèque Mitterrand, just off Rue de Tolbiac), ree entry, Saturday (2-10pm) and Sunday (2-8pm).

June 8-10
Nearly 6,000 feathered and sequinned costumes, designed and made in the workshops of the Folies Bergère, one of the world’s most prestigious music-halls, are going on auction at the Palais de la Bourse (Place de la Bourse, 2nd) over three sessions (two catalogued sales on Saturday 9th at 6pm and Sunday 10th at 4pm, one non-catalogued sale of costumes, accessories, notions and supplies). To this magnificent set of lots will be added a hundred posters and programmes recounting a century of revues, original musical scores composed for Folies Bergère revues and drawings by famous fashion illustrator Erté. Public exhibition of the collection from 2-6pm on Friday, 10am-5pm on Saturday, 10am-3pm on Sunday.

June 17
It's time yet again to don your most fashionable hat and a picnic basket and head up to Chantilly for the annual Prix de Diane at the Chantilly Hippodrome. It's Ladies' Day at the races, and the fashions might overshadown the horses, but overall it's a fabulous day out for free (well, if you can get out there by train or car or helicopter). Check out one of my posts from the 2010 event with photos.

Au Bonheur des Dames

40 rue du Colisée, 8th
M° Franklin D. Roosevelt

www.bonheur-des-dames.com

Every Thursday night from 9:30pm until 10:45pm, Régine’s welcomes 200 ladies for this free soirée which includes unlimited cocktails, dinner, a beauty bar, and an interactive male striptease show. Dress code: very sexy (you have to compete to get past the doorman with a sea of 20-something gazelles).  Sit towards the front if you want to be one of the lucky ladies chosen to play with the Sheik, Zorro, or the Fireman. Cheesy? A little. But the quality is quite impressive. Come see for yourselves! At 11:30pm gentlemen are invited in for dancing to local DJs until dawn. There is also a fumoir in a separate room for the addicts among you.

For the Au Bonheure des Dames soirées reserve your place at Tel 06 21 70 52 56
Organizer :Anne-Sophie Baillet relationspubliques@regine-paris.com

PS This used to be at Régine's and is now in its own venue, the old Les Planches club, just around the corner.

Well don't bother getting there early because they will not come to the door until 10 at the earliest.Don't bother coming unless you are either famous or a giant white blond. As I learned the other day they do not accept anyone from ethnic minorities, I saw quite a number being turned down and not because they were unattractive. I think their definition of sexy is definitely racist! This club is a real embarrasment for Paris and for us Parisians.

That's funny. I go with friends all of the time who are not white, and we get in. I think that like any other nightclub in Paris, it's the mood of the doorman that determines who gets in.

This sounds quite fun, but I'm suspicious of the "free" label...nothing in Paris is free! What's the catch?

Also, do you need to make a reservation for the regular Thurs night soirée, or only for special events?

Thanks! Great guide :)

It is free becaus ethey get sponsors to pay for the drinks, and because after the show all of the men come and pay a lot of money on drinks to be with a bar full of women. ;)
Reservations are for Thursday nights.

They're def not racist. You just gotta know someone who organizes the parties there or a guy who is a regular.
