Ten years ago, a Frenchman opened a Champagne bar in Manhattan. Today, the concept has finally come home...and it's picked up a New York accent. Flûte Etoile, on a little side street near the Arc de Triomphe, owes its cozy and intimate atmosphere to its size and decor than its shady past as a "gentlemen's club".

The cozy mezzanine
A fireplace nook and bar seating keeps the ground level sociable, while small groups and lovers looking for a little privacy head up to the mezzanine, where you can see the beautiful "Champagne bubble" chandelier designed by Patrick Jouin (of Hotel Plaza Athénée fame).
There are red velour seats, deep blue walls, funky artworks, and a remote DJ playing the same tunes they're hearing in the New York locations. Guests can taste up to 15 different champagnes by the glass from €10, bottles start at €50 and up to €2000. There are also cocktails with names like Marquis de Sade, Antoinette, Champagne Mojito...scotch, wine, beer...Food is Franco-Asian fusion, like the Vietnamese spring rolls, but also traditional bubbly accompaniments like caviar, foie gras and smoked salmon.
A discreet place for an intimate tête-à-tête...open Tues-Sat 5pm-2am.

Flute L'Etoile is hosting the first La Nuit Americaine on Sunday, February 1st, from 7:00 pm till closing. The club plans for La Nuit Americaine to be a weekly theme night on Sundays, marrying the best of French and American culture.
In honor of Carnival season, the first La Nuit Americaine theme is “The Big Apple meets the Big Easy”, featuring an eclectic selection of cocktails from New Orleans. This is what New Orleans native Maggie Kennedy (the event organizer) had to say:
“La Nuit Americaine chez Flute L'Etoile is a new concept Herve conceived, in hope of mixing his favorite cultures, French and American. Since Flute is a Franco-American melange with its cocktails, decor, and food, we are now just hoping to simply mix the people. Being that it is close to Mardi Gras, this Sunday in particular, will have a NOLA flavor. I will be passing out a Brandy punch, and we will be featuring Hurricanes, Bloody Marys, and Mint Juleps on the menu. Got to love that eh?! As far as every Sunday, we hope to give them each an American theme. You can expect some great decade themes in the near future!”
