Review by Aileen O'Riordan

This place is wonderful. Similar to Le Bataclan, it has the ageing elegance of an old Parisian theatre and began its career as a venue for cabaret in the nineteenth century. Upstairs there's ancient cinema seating and downstairs a sloped standing area (great for us smallies..) and brilliant acoustics throughout the hall.

The toilets will also impress, while being of a standard one would expect from a concert venue, there is a fountain in the centre (of the ladies at least) and a marine style decor. A small venue, perfect for a quiet mid-week concert, although giving the opportunity to have one too many. Be careful on the stairs, however. The bar is located in the foyer far from the show.

The line up for the summer 2009 is mainly up-and-comers, but would still be worth a look. I'm hoping to catch Bonny Prince Billy, in April, and possibly Cocoon, in May, who are supposed to be great live. Also, for anyone wondering 'where is she now', Kim Wilde will be on the stage at the beginning of April. Pull out those leg warmers!
